Holidays in Portland are always a fun time. We have ZooLights, Peacock Lane and much more. So, we are taking a quick break from our usual posts about roofing and home maintenance to give some great ideas for local holiday activities you can participate in this month:
ZooLights: This is a Portland holiday classic, so if you’ve never seen them, head on over to the Oregon Zoo and see the lights! According to the Oregon Zoo website, the ZooLights schedule is:
Sun-Thurs: 5 pm-8 pm
Fri-Sat 5 pm-8:30 pm
Closed Dec 10, 24, and 258
Winter Wonderland: You can see the holiday lights, bring a pet or a bike, and participate in any number of activities at the Raceway. There’s a ton to do, so you’ll have to go to their website to get all the details.
Walk through the Christmas Fantasy Trail: Grab your hiking boots and go to the Christmas Fantasy Trail. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 6 pm – 9 pm and has lights, tunnels, a maze, suspension bridge and a bonfire. It’s closed on Dec 24th and 25th. This is a holiday activity that is very specific to Christmas.
See a play or other performance: There are a ton of classic plays as well as many other holiday performances worth seeing at Portland Center Stage, Portland’s Centers for the Arts, Oregon Children’s Theatre, Artists Repertory Theatre, Portland Revels, and others.
Watch the Christmas Ships: Brightly lit ships will be touring the Willamette and Columbia Rivers this December.
Providence Festival of Trees: Lets you wander through a wonderland of decorated tress, holiday items, and wreaths.
SantaCon: For unique and adventurous Santa’s all across Portland.
There are likely many, many other events happening all around Portland, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, Beaverton and other neighboring cities. These are just a few fun ideas for your winter enjoyment. Let us know if you go to any of these activities and tell us what you thought.
Happy Holidays!
