Your roof is there to protect you from debris, but what do debris do to your roof?

– Blockages to the flow of water on your roof can cause water to pool and will damage shingles which are made to shed water.  Allowing the water to pool on your roof can damage your roof.

– Overhanging branches or debris which are touching or are too close to your roof will hold moisture and create a great environment for wood destroying bugs like termites, carpenter ants or wood-boring beetles.

– Debris which allow water to pool can create fungal rot, algae, and moss to grow on your roof.

– If they are heavy enough, the debris crack, scrape or ruin your shingles.

So, what do you do?

Well, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on your roof and remove any debris as soon as possible.

Additionally: keep your gutters cleaned and make sure to keep your eyes on your roof and get it inspected if you are concerned about it.
