Whether you need your roof maintained or you need an entirely new roof, you will likely get an estimate or two in order to discover how much the work will cost.  After you’ve nailed down an idea of cost, how do you figure out which contractor to go with?  There’s the old adage “you get what you pay for,” so does that mean you have to pick the most expensive estimate?  What if you can’t afford it?  Here are a few things to look for that can help you determine which contractor you should go with:

– How complete is the estimated work?  Will the work listed in the estimate solve the problem?Roofer

– Find out about the quality of the materials being proposed.  Are they high quality?  Do they have a good warranty?

– What does the contractor warrant?

– Take a look at the contractor’s CCB #.  It should be listed right there on the estimate.  You can go to the state or Oregon’s Construction Contractors Board and look up the contractor by their CCB number.

– Find out the contractor’s schedule.  Can they get to your work immediately or will it take a while?  If it takes a while, is there some interim action you or they can take to preserve your roof integrity in case of rain?

– Take a look at the reviews listed on Google, Yelp, and other reputable websites.

If you aren’t certain which contractor to pick, these pointers should help put you on the right track.
